EU interior ministers are scheduled to hold an informal meeting today to discuss the situation surrounding sea rescue in the Mediterranean Sea. Following a short respite due to Corona-related restrictions, the number of people trying to get to the European Union via the Mediterranean has grown steadily, according to the European border agency, Frontex. And again, migrants are drowning due to the lack of rescue services.

One region under the spotlight is in the Aegean Sea, between Turkey and Greece. Numerous migrants have reported being attacked in European waters
